Written by a NHS patient at Leeds General Infirmary

Following an altercation with a ‘tagine’, I was left with no option but to attend LGI Emergency Department 23rd December with severe pain and significant weakness in my right leg. An MRI revealed a compressed nerve and I was reviewed by Mr Sinha Neurosurgical Consultant. As it was near Christmas we initially tried some conservative management however as there was no improvement I underwent spinal neurosurgery on the 15th January. Mr Sinha truly reflected the values of the Leeds Way and made me feel safe at a most vulnerable time . I was involved in the decision making relating to each step of my care and through their communication, honesty and clinical expertise felt supported and empowered in my decision making. I honestly feel that the compassion and high standard of care I received from Mr Sinha was a credit to LTHT.
